Understanding Menus 

Menus, simply put, are used primarily for the main navigation on your site. Some themes do offer multiple spaces for menus, such as a top or primary menu, as well as a bottom or footer menu.

Typically you do not wish to have Pages automatically added to your menu when they're created. Foursides I have more than five or six pages, if you leave this option checked, your menu will soon run out of control.

It is always best to add pages to the appropriate spaces of the menu. You do not, and most likely should not, add all of your pages to your primary, top, menu.

Use a Custom Sidebar + Menu Widget 

If you have a site that has a large number of pages, and especially if you use child pages, you should consider creating a custom menu then inserting it as a widget in a sidebar. Then you can assign a custom sidebar to those pages, so that menu is available only on the applicable pages. For example if you have organizational information with 10 sub pages for your organization, Using a custom sidebar with a menu inserted in it would be the best method of navigation. 

 To make or Edit Menus

To modify or create new menus you simply need to just navigate to the appearance section of your dashboard, then choose menus.

For more information on how to use this feature, there's plenty found in the help categories of the site itself. Simply just navigate to the help drop-down menu at the top of the page when you're viewing a menu.

Tip!

Always consider renaming the title of your menu items for pages that are longer than one or two words.
